Ai piedi di monte Pomiciaro, all'inizio del sentiero che conduce a Monte Zoccolaro, troviamo un faggio di grandi dimensioni e vecchio di 200 anni. Come tutti i faggi del nostro vulcano può essere considerato l'erede del periodo oceanico del postglaciale a testimonianza di un'era sicuramente più fredda e più umida dell'attuale. Alto venti metri e con una circonferenza al tronco di sette metri e mezzo, svetta nel bosco circostante che comunque presenta altri faggi di notevoli dimensioni. Purtroppo il tronco è stato ripetutamente intagliato da vandali.
