In letteratura sono descritti altri casi (l'ultimo in Kenya), si tratta di una rara malattia che consiste nell'assenza degli enzimi coinvolti nella produzione di melanina. Spesso i soggetti colpiti non sopravvivono a lungo perché risultano maggiormente visibili, hanno una maggiore sensibilità cutanea oltre ad essere soggetti allo sviluppo di forme neoplastiche della pelle. We have seen this rare case of leukocism in a hippo. Other cases are described in the literature (the last in Kenya), it is a rare disease consisting in the absence of the enzymes involved in the production of melanin.
