Il ragno saltatore usa delle tecniche di predazione molto diverse rispetto alle altre famiglie di ragni. In genere, tende degli agguati agli insetti dopo averli tenuti sott'occhio per un po', come se si chiedesse: vale la pena spendere energie per questo animale? Una volta identificata la preda, questi ragni di solito producono un filo di seta o “paracadute” prima di avventurarsi su di essa. In questo modo, se falliscono, evitano di cadere a terra o di essere portati via da una corrente d'aria. Dopo il contatto con lo sfortunato animale, iniettano un veleno che lo immobilizza, impedendone così la fuga.
