Balzi Rossi , italianizzato dal ventimigliese Bàussi Russi ( sassi rossi ) , è un toponimo dato ad un' area situata nei pressi della frazione Grimaldi di Ventimiglia , a poca distanza dal valico di frontiera di Ponte San Ludovico tra Italia e Francia , che comprende una spiaggetta nota come spiaggia delle uova per la forma ed il colore dei suoi piccoli ciottoli ed una falesia subito retrostante alta circa 100 m. Ai piedi della falesia si trova un complesso di grotte , di cui la Barma Grande è la maggiore , in cui sono stati scoperti , a partire dalla seconda metà dell'Ottocento , numerosi reperti di epoca paleolitica risalenti a circa 25.000 anni or sono , sepolture umane , utensili , monili ed ossa di animali .
