ETR 450 Pendolino at 150 km/h sent on January 22, 2021 (19:30) by Carlo Alfonso. 32 comments, 1541 views. [retina]

, 1/25 f/8.0, ISO 100, hand held. Benevento, Italy.

Just like that Carlo, the shooting technique with the film was this but then I had the Nikon F301 and it was already with the engine, I usually tried two/three slides and then chose the best one as a frame. Still beautiful.
Saluti.

Massimo, thank you :-) I also had the winder at the time, but it was a burden I avoided for obvious reasons... it was already quite heavy on the 28-85 and we just lacked that contraption under the camera :-D
Not that I hadn't tried, but it was more difficult to handle the whole complex and the benefits of motorized dragging went to be blessed when the weight tended to unbalance the camera in my hand. :-)
Some things changed when I bought the Contax Aria, with built-in automatic drag, but after only a few years the digital photograph came out overwhelmingly :-P
Cyo and good weekend.

By photographing car and motorcycle aircraft, the focusing technique is more than familiar to me.
I had Canon with the engine that made it easy for me. For work, something I had to take home...
Compliments.
A greeting.

Mauro thank you. :-) For "ordinary" photos maybe with 35-70 or with lower focal fixes, I often used in winders (birthdays, family parties, etc...) but with trains running it was complicated :-D
Cyo and happy weekend.

Nice photo and great result. I read the caption with interest: there is always learning. Hello.

Dear Carlo, many "young people" present on this site have never tried to shoot in the way that you described that, instead, it was the reality of a different era.
Tanti memories.....
Cyo Carlo, happy weekend

Beautiful! An image that puts nostalgia at a time when "travel" is forbidden. I really like the sharp perspective.
A dear greeting

It took "craft" with analog cameras without the stabilization of today's digital cameras to take such a perfect shot at this beautiful pendulum, congratulations! :-o hello Beppe

Thane to all of you for your appreciation of this shot, also in relation to the operational difficulties of the time compared to today, and thank you above all for your very welcome presence on my trains ;-)
I cordially greet you wishing you a happy seventh end to all.

Sacrosanct what has been written about the technique of focus in the time of analog on moving subjects. I would, however, like to add a psychological note. At the time I used that technique to take some shots of a friend/colleague as he walked a path in the mountains with the mountain bike, and I remember perfectly that I arrived intuitively, without that, that is, that no one had explained it to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but the feeling is that in the age of analog, if one had a modicum of inventiveness, he could get to things intuitively, which at the advent of digital was a little lost. Now, it's harder, many times I know things or not, there's no escape, and that depresses me a lot, greetings Pier.

Hi Carlo. I had guessed the technique of that time to get these :-D thank you for illustrated it in the caption. I still emphasize your great skill (here we are on 40m/s), as can also be seen from the detail of the running train, basically equal to that of stationary objects.
again congratulations on the beautiful gallery

Fabio, thank you :-) especially for your very welcome passage, as well as for the appreciation of my shooting "technique". On the other hand with the 139 the shortest times were 1/500° and 1/1,000°, but, as you can see, they were enough to freeze the movement :-)
Sea and good Sunday.
