Dear Loris, I read the caption with interest and emotion.
I've seen the photos that testify to the period.
The photo proposed in B&N makes even more the fatigue, fears and dark days spent in the trenches by Our Valiant Heroes.
Personally I visited some trenches on the Italian-Slovenian and Italian-Austrian border.
I consider them and for me they are, sacred places where for sacred it is not only the religious expression but something that flanks it; the sacrifice is similar to the sacrifices of these Heroes today, unfortunately, forgotten because this is reality and is remembered only if necessary and on anniversaries.
Thane for posting a piece of Our History.
A dear greeting
Franco

Hi Louis, friends Franco and Stefano have already said my thoughts.
I make a simple observation
The situation today asks you to stay at home comfortable on the sofas and get out as little as possible if not necessary but.... the aperitif calls, too much sacrifice to stay in the house .,maybe these stories help to understand ...... but I doubt it.
Bella and exciting both the photo and the story

Congratulations Loris, you have done an excellent historical research work accompanied by beautiful images.
The Great War was one of the bloodiest ever and this work of yours keeps alive the memory
of those who gave their lives for the fatherland.
A dear greeting, Livy

Meticulous and exhaustive research work accompanied by a series of shots that tell how much and perhaps more than the words themselves ...
The story, today, is now trivialized to encyclopedic voices and does not enjoy social limelight: serious news for current generations and that will be ...
Cyo and supercompliments!

A shot that is almost a subjective from the point of view of those poor young people, forced who knows why, to defend a few meters of stones or to conquer them, dying or killing other young people! :-o
Compliments for the image and for your Loris commitment ;-)

Thank kids for your participation, it is a great pleasure to read your positive comments, history belongs to us and should not be set aside because it is part of our society, more than a hundred years have passed since the end of the world war and now the veterans are no longer among us but the historical documents and the places of testimony remain in the Alpine arc on the border with Austria and Slovenia

With your great work you revive millions of men and gifts, at least, concreteness to the memory of their effort and sacrifice.
Very good, Loris, who knows what grandfather would say.......
A dear greeting.

Touching photo and caption, it's hard just to imagine the real life of those who unfortunately experienced the fatigue of that period.
Compliments for the work document.
A greeting, Vincenzo
