Nice picture, I would have said it was made at least with a 50mm...

Congratulations, not to the car, to you.
Do you want to reveal the secret of lighting this and the full light version?

Thank you all very much for your kind comments, Brièxit, Sebinobmfi, Alex11u, Mauro Bologna, Teofilatto and Gianfranco.

The car is masterfully designed and executed. A true beauty to my eyes. The designed tension lines and volumes of this car are incredibles and was my intention to try to render them accurately with this "dim light" photograph. ;-)

Mauro, the shot was taken at 17 mm focal length at about 4 meters from the car. I decided to shoot at this focal lenght because the Sigma 14-24 lens I used is very sharph in this range and stopping it down to f8 it should result in perfect focus corner to corner, maximizing the depth of field.

Of course a 50 mm lens would have also done the work perfectly. On the other hand, a deciding factor for choosing 17 mm was that the car was placed parallel to the camera sensor, and thus the geometrical distortions were mostly minimized.

Best regards and thanks again for your comment.

Teofilatto, this was a light painting shot with the camera on tripod and 30 seconds exposure. I used a Godox AD600 with a remote head and with a 50x70 Rotalux softbox. The only light employed was the continuous modelling led lamp of the Godox flash.

I took about 8 different shots each one (passes) illuminating different parts of the car, moving myself with the softbox behind the car: roof, waist, wheels, front hood and bumper, rear aileron and rear spoiler/difussor, surroundings. Them I mixed them up on Photoshop and revealed with masks the parts that I wanted to show from the 8 different layers. In each layer, the non illuminated parts of the car were masked.

The "full light" shot is composed from the same 8 photographs, but I showed up all of the eight layers. So there is a lot of evenly distributed and controlled light along the entire car.

The " dim light" shot on the contrary is a composition resulted from only unmasking two or three layers: the roof and front hood/bumper pass, the wheels pass and the surrondings pass. The purpose was to create a more intriguing and suggesting "chiaroscuro" ambient.

Best regards
