A venti km dalle pendici del Gargano sorge l'Abbazia di S. Leonardo, fondata dai Canonici Regolari di S. Agostino nel XIII sec, fu originariamente utilizzata come ricovero per i pellegrini diretti in Terra Santa,in seguito divenne sede di Cardinali, fino ai primi del XIX secolo, quando fu affidata all'Ordine Costantiniano. Nel 1950 fu riaperta al culto. Il complesso presenta un portale di una certa rilevanza tra le opere romaniche pugliesi. Tutti gli anni il 21 giugno, in occasione del solstizio d'estate, a mezzogiorno in punto, si ripete un fenomeno singolare, quello del raggio di sole che, filtrando da un foro della volta dove e' posto il rosone, illumina un punto preciso del pavimento, testimonianza delle avanzate ed esatte conoscenze astronomiche degli edificatori della Abbazia di S. Leonardo. Nel 2014 iniziarono importanti lavori di restauro, anche ad opera dei Padri Ricostruttori della Preghiera, che attualmente abitano l'Abbazia, curando tutte le attivita' religiose.
