Burgos - il piccolo paese nacque nel 1337 ai piedi di un castello medievale, risalente a due secoli prima, su iniziativa del giudice Mariano IV d'Arborea, che inviò una colonia di 24 famiglie, provenienti forse da Villanova Monteleone. Burgos sorge a 600 metri d'altezza, al centro del territorio storico del Goceano, popolato da meno di mille abitanti. Il borgo si sviluppa in forte pendenza sulle pendici rocciose, distinto in due parti: una recente e una tipicamente medievale, arroccata nelle immediate vicinanze della fortezza, con strette viuzze e case con tetto a doppio spiovente. Il monumento-simbolo di Burgos è la fortezza ai piedi della quale è sorto, il castello del Goceano (o di Burgos). Per sorvegliare i confini del giudicato di Torres, il giudice Gonario I de Lacon-Gunale lo costruì nel 1134 su una rupe granitica (alta 650 metri), isolata, inaccessibile a nord e a est e di difficile accesso dalle altre parti. Si possono osservare i resti della triplice cinta di mura, che lo cingeva. Al centro della corte invece si può ammirare una massiccia torre quadrata, alta 15 metri, costruita da mattoni all'esterno e rivestita di lastre di granito all'interno, e, in ottimo stato, una grande cisterna di raccolta delle acque. La visita è resa ancor più affascinante dall'alone di storia e leggenda: ci aleggia il fantasma di Adelasia, sorella di Barisone III di Torres, morta qui nel 1259 dopo una lunga prigionia volontaria, seguita alla cattura del marito, Enzo di Hohenstaufen, figlio dell'imperatore Federico II e re di Sardegna. Successivamente, a fine XIII secolo, il castello passò prima a Genova, poi alla famiglia Doria. A metà XIV secolo fu acquisito dai giudici d'Arborea. Infine, passò agli aragonesi, i quali lasciarono la fortezza in balia degli eventi. Nel 1516 il castello è definito ancora in buono stato, poi il declino.
