Il grandioso affresco della cupola è opera del pittore Giuseppe Rollini che, da ragazzo, era stato allievo di don Bosco. Egli lasciò nella chiesa dell'Ausiliatrice un artistico e splendido documento della sua riconoscenza verso don Bosco e la gloriosa Regina del Cielo. Ecco una sintesi dell'opera: Per osservare le principali figure di questo gran quadro, bisogna collocarsi a giusta distanza, e guardare innanzi tutto la parte della cupola che è verso l'altar maggiore. È tutta una visione luminosa di Paradiso. Nel centro, l'Ausiliatrice, Regina del cielo, siede sul suo trono e tiene ritto sulle ginocchia il Bambino che ha le braccia aperte in atto di richiamo. Sopra il capo della Vergine, la figura maestosa dell'Eterno Padre ha sul petto splendente una candida colomba, simbolo dello Spirito Santo. Intorno alla Vergine si librano a volo e fanno corona angeli e arcangeli; Gabriele inginocchiato e chino presso il trono, come lo pensiamo nell'umile casa di Nazareth il giorno memorando dell'Annunciazione quando rivolse alla Vergine il saluto Ave, gratia plena; Michele in alto, sfolgorante con la spada e con la bilancia. In piedi, con il bastone fiorito in mano, san Giuseppe alla destra di Maria. Sotto i cumuli delle bianche nubi si apre un lembo di terra, dove la cara e sorridente figura di don Bosco ci appare in mezzo ai suoi figli, con le opere del suo apostolato nei paesi civili e tra i popoli selvaggi. Monsignor G. Cagliero, Vicario Apostolico della Patagonia, presenta a don Bosco un gruppo di Patagoni, alcuni inginocchiati, uno, di statura gigantesca, in piedi con le braccia aperte in atteggiamento di stupore, di gioia, di riconoscenza verso colui che mandò i Missionari per la loro redenzione. Accanto sono due Suore delle Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice, che nelle scuole, negli ospizi, negli asili, negli ospedali compiono la loro santa missione fra le povere donne e le fanciulle della Patagonia. Più in alto, sopra le Suore, è collocato un gruppo di Santi cari a don Bosco: san Francesco di Sales, san Filippo Neri, san Luigi Gonzaga e dinanzi a loro, inginocchiato, san Carlo Borromeo. Più in alto ancora sono riconoscibili san Giovanni Battista, santa Teresa con la freccia in mano, e, seduti, san Pietro con le chiavi e san Paolo con la spada. A destra delle Suore, due Missionari salesiani. A sinistra di don Bosco, sono raffigurati i Salesiani con le loro scuole.
