Questa enorme rete si chiama "tonnara" prende il nome appunto da quella circoscritta parte di mare " La Tonnara".Qui siamo a Camogli (GE) dove esiste una delle ultime tonnare d'Italia. Una volta era per l'esclusiva pesca ai tonni ma oggi per la loro scarsità qui vengono pescati altri tipi di persce come il bonitto (simile a ltonno), la palamita, e tanti altri tipi di pesce di grossa taglia o altro. La rete è di materiale naturale il cocco. Tutti gli anni viene fatta nuova perchè ogni anno, alla fine della stagione, viene lasciata in mare dove si deteriora essendo fibra vegetale. Il compito della rete tonnara è quello di formare come un muro che obbliga i pesci, una volta entrati, a dover proseguire solo quel percorso. All'interno della tonnara vi sono altre reti più piccole, queste anche in materiale sintetico e che vengono ritirate ad ogni fine stagione poi riparate durante l'inverno. Sono queste piccole che vengono ritirate quando sono piene di pesci. Vengono utilizzate due barche una grande e una più piccola, vedere i pescatori tirare le reti è una grande emozione. La tonnara di Camogli è ubicata in un tratto di mare al di sotto del Promontorio di Portofino é tanto bello che sembra il Paradiso.
