I colori dell'Italia tra Fede folklore e tradizioni ...................Prosegue il mio percorso tra i miei luoghi e le tradizioni che si tramandano da sempre.................. .............Festa di San Giorgio a Modica:...............una processione al galoppo................. Un'esplosione di fuochi d'artificio e una cascata di volantini colorati accompagnano il momento in cui la statua di San Giorgio lascia l'omonima chiesa e abbraccia i modicani. Una nuvola rossa avvolge cittadini assiepati sulla scalinata mentre i Sangiorgiari (i devoti del santo) portano a spalla la statua che rappresenta il santo guerriero sul dorso di un cavallo mentre uccide il drago. Curiosamente la statua procede con un'andatura sostenuta e frequentemente i Sangiorgiari fanno correre San Giorgio simulando il galoppo del cavallo. La corsa dei devoti si interrompe per ifimmati, momenti di sosta in cui viene offerto da mangiare ai portatori.................................................... Durante tutta la processione si respira un'atmosfera euforica, i modicani vivono con molta passione la festa. Solo in tarda serata San Giorgio rientra nel Duomo, anche il ritorno è annunciato da un grande spettacolo pirotecnico. Il momento in cui la statua rientra nella chiesa, però, non è l'atto conclusivo della festa; i Sangiorgiari faranno correre San Giorgio anche dentro la chiesa. Sono gli ultimi momenti di festa, la statua compie numerosi gira tra le navate del duomo di San Giorgio.
