Il Dornier Do. 328 è un aereo da trasporto regionale da 30-33 passeggeri. E' stato uno dei pochi aerei costruiti sia a elica sia a reazione. Nato per unire il comfort della fusoliera più ampia della categoria alle prestazioni consentite da un'ala molto innovativa, il Do.328 fu sviluppato a partire dal 1988. Il primo Do 328 volò il 6 Dicembre 1991 ed entrò in servizio di linea due anni dopo. La produzione dell'aereo si concluse nel 2005 dopo 223 esemplari complessivi sotto il marchio AvCraft. Molti Do.328 sono ancora in servizio in tutto il mondo. Diverse compagnie minori italiane hanno impiegato per oltre un decennio le due versioni ad elica e a getto.Questa fusoliera è esposta presso il Museo Aeronautico "Volandia "ed è la N. 232. Rimasta incompleta alla fine della produzione è stata accantonata e successivamente donata al museo dall'Azienda Alenia Aermacchi che sin dagli inizi era socio costruttore ed aveva la responsabilità della progettazione e costruzione della fusoliera anteriore e dell'assemblaggio della fusoliera pressurizzata, ruolo ampliatosi nel corso del programma.
