I crateri sommitali dell'Etna sono un posto magnifico e magico ma altamente avverso alla vita. Nonostante ciò i venti che soffiano dalla pianura portano fin quassù diversi piccoli insetti che riescono a sopravvivere a 3400 mslm grazie al calore emanato dal vulcano. Questi insetti sono il nutrimento delle coccinelle (Coccinella Septempunctata) che, anche loro spinte dai venti, arrivano sulla cima dell'Etna per cibarsene.
