Macaone

A natural mosaic sent on July 09, 2019 (6:36) by Nicola De Crecchio. 16 comments, 694 views. [retina]

, 1/4 f/14.0, ISO 800, tripod. Cremona, Italy. Specie: Papilio machaon

Le ali delle farfalle sono coperte da minuscole scaglie che, come in un mosaico, formano un variopinto disegno. In questo caso ho aggiunto un paio di tubi di prolunga all'obiettivo per superare il rapporto di riproduzione 1:1

A classic not at all easy Nicola! In this regard I would like to ask you some questions: why did you use 800iso and why not try an FS of some shots by opening more and lowering the iso (since it falls into your technical baggage)? so you'd have a better, more homogeneous detail across the frame. That said, I congratulate you because you've come to a good shot anyway. Congratulations To Ingeus

Thank you Aurora, Marzio, Pier and Nemesis.

Basically there was a bit of a breeze and to get a single good shot I took a bit of time. I would hardly have been able to complete the sequence of an FS. Since the shooting area is basically flat, I preferred the single shot, closing the diaphragm a little.

Beautiful, very well realized and interesting, I heard in a documentary that butterfly wings are a kind of photovoltaic panels, it seems that through those scales acquire energy.

Thank you Gandino, Renzo and Marco!

I didn't know something like this, I'll try to document myself... from a short research I understand that butterflies use their wings as a tool to capture thermal energy. They have also been studied in depth in their physical structure to understand how to optimize solar panels, even in the photovoltaic field

I too have followed the documentary on butterfly wings and the discoveries are really important for the panel projects.
besides their extraordinary beauty we will admire them and thank them for what they can give us.
congratulations
