La basilica di San Vittore, posta al centro dell'antico borgo medievale, è chiusa tra palazzi settecenteschi, ottocenteschi e novecenteschi. La prima costruzione è del VII secolo, periodo Longobardo. Dal IX secolo fu capo di pieve, cioè fu chiesa “matrice”, con battistero e chiesa parrocchiale, dalla quale dipendevano tutte le altre. L'attuale edificio è del XVI-XVII secolo, quando fu ricostruito per le nuove necessità del borgo: il presbiterio fu eretto nel 1542 e il corpo della chiesa su progetto di Pellegrino Pellegrini nel 1580.Accanto alla basilica troviamo l'imponente torre campanaria (o Il Bernascone), progettata da Giuseppe Bernasconi e terminata dai fratelli Baroffio. Costruito tra il 1617 e il 1774, il campanile è realizzato con graniti grigi delle valli ossolane e mattoni d'argilla. Si possono notare i segni lasciati dalle cannonate austriache durante la battaglia di Biumo del 1859, nell'ambito delle guerre austro-sarde per la conquista del Nord Italia.
