Giovedì 4 aprile 2019, 13:32. Attuale sede dell'Università degli Studi di Milano. Iniziata nel 1457 su progetto dell'architetto fiorentino Antonio Averlino detto "il Filarete", che nel suo "Trattato di Architettura" ne diede una minuziosa descrizione. Nel 1465 gli subentrarono i fratelli ticinesi Guinforte e Francesco Solari, che apportarono numerosi cambiamenti rispetto al progetto iniziale. L'edicola monumentale dell'ingresso principale risale agli anni '20 del '600 ed è opera di Francesco Maria Richini con Fabio Mangone e Giovanni Battista Pessina; progettisti anche del retrostante chiostro grande o cortile d'onore. Qui vediamo una porzione della facciata seicentesca posta a destra dell'edicola d'ingresso (a sinstra ve n'è una simmetrica). Essa è opera del Richini che, per un'esigenza di continuità con la parte contigua quattrocentesca, adottò un linguaggio che riprendeva quello del Filarete e dei fratelli Solari; disegnando finestre a sesto acuto, in disuso da oltre un secolo. Anche la decorazione in cotto e pietra è ispirata, pur con variazioni e aggiornamenti, a quella ideata dai Solari nel tardo Quattrocento.
