Al centro della sala è collocata la statua del primo imperatore romano, Ottaviano Augusto, proveniente da Cuma. Il sovrano è stato divinizzato dopo la sua morte ed è rappresentato sotto le spoglie di Giove. La statua è uno splendido esempio di “classicismo augusteo” in cui la tendenza realistica romana è combinata con l'alto ideale della scultura greca classica. La statua fu ritrovata a pezzi e ricostruita nell'ottocento da Filippo Gnaccherini sulla base di raffigurazioni su monete antiche.
