La Cengia Martini è una cengia, cioè una parete rocciosa, che si trova sulla parete sud del Piccolo Lagazuoi. Essa prende il nome dal comandante degli Alpini, il Maggiore Ettore Martini, la quale con i suoi soldati vi si attestò nell'ottobre 1915 creando così un grosso problema agli Austriaci; gli italiani, in questo modo, da quella postazione potevano controllare, ed anche disturbare, tutte le azioni che si svolgevano nella zona del Passo Falsarego togliendo libertà di movimento ai nemici anche se, però, gli stessi italiani si trovavano circondati su ben tre lati dal nemico. Più volte gli austro-ungarici provarono a scacciare gli italiani da quell'arroccamento anche se con scarsi risultati mentre, dal canto loro, gli alpini non riuscirono mai a conquistare la vetta del Lagazuoi. A questo punto tra i due eserciti si creò una situazione di stallo con gli austro-ungarici che provarono in ogni modo a cacciare gli italiani, attraverso colpi d'artiglieria o cercando di calarsi dalla cima, e con gli Alpini che ogni volta dovevano difendere la loro postazione ad ogni costo. https://www.grande-guerra.it/la-cengia-martini/
