Situato nell'omonima piazza non lontano dalla famosa Piazza del Campo, il Duomo di Siena è un maestoso edificio realizzato in stile gotico. Al suo interno si possono ammirare molte opere realizzate da grandi artisti quali Donatello, Pisano, Michelangelo oltre ad affreschi del Pinturicchio. La Cattedrale è stata realizzata tra il 1214 e il 1263 con una struttura a croce latina e la cupola non molto sporgente mentre il campanile è stato costruito nella parte posteriore in adiacenza. I colori rappresentativi di Siena si possono distinguere sia sulla facciata esterna che all'interno con decori in blocchi di marmo bianco e alternanza di sottili strisce nere verdastre. A destra del Duomo ancora oggi è visibile il muro che doveva fare parte di una immensa cattedrale la cui costruzione venne abbandonataad inizio del quattordicesimo secolo allorchè Siena venne colpita da un'epidemia di peste.E' possibile salire su questo muro per godere di una favolosa vista sulla città e sulla vicina Piazza del Campo. I was practically with my back attached to the wall of the. Palace opposite the façade of the Duomo. With 24 mm equivalent despite having left more space possible on the sides for the recovery in post production of the falling lines (several inclined because of the pdr at square level and then with a slightly inclined lens upward) you could not do better . I tried the alternative of the shot from the right corner of the façade but I was without tripod to make a long decent exposure to take out the crowds of tourists and with too many people in front I did not like ;-)
