Sanetti Plateau. Bale Mountain, Stato territoriale di Oromia. Etiopia. Dopo un anno il ritorno al Sanetti ha confermato che i lupi sono tuttora presenti numerosi ed apparentemente in buona salute. Restano invariati,tuttavia, i motivi che minacciano la specie. Cioè gli insediamenti delle popolazioni dedite alla pastorizia che ostacolano le abitudini dei roditori (i piccoli ed i Mole Rat molto più grandi) che scavano gallerie nel terreno. I bovini distruggono le gallerie e ne fanno diminuire la popolazione. Inoltre i cani da pastore, sempre più numerosi, spaventano i lupi che tendono a sostare più vicino all'unica strada sterrata che attraversa il Sanetti con tutti i rischi connessi al passaggio a velocità pazzesca (date le condizioni della strada) di camion e autobus molto, molto frequenti. Insomma questo povero e bellissimo lupo deve sudarsi la sopravvivenza in un ambiente peraltro selvaggio e stupendo. Nell'indifferenza più o meno di tutte le istituzioni di salvaguardia delle specie a rischio etiopi ed internazionali.
