La chiesa parrocchiale della Madonna della Neve e San Massimo fu costruita a partire dal 1766 su committenza reale da Ignazio Birago di Borgaro. La preesistente chiesa intitolata a Santa Maria dell'Annunciazione era stata eretta nella seconda metà del XVI sec., ma già cento anni dopo era in condizioni fortemente degradate, tanto che lo stesso Filippo di San Martino la fece consolidare nell'ambito dei lavori di realizzazione della propria residenza. Nel 1724 la comunità alladiese pensò di ampliarla, richiedendone il progetto a Costanzo Michela di Agliè e a Carlo Cappellaro di Mongrando: i lavori, tuttavia, procedevano lentamente, dando così buon gioco a Ignazio Birago di Borgaro di soddisfare la volontà regia di avere a disposizione un edificio più adatto alle rinnovate esigenze di magnificenza della corte sabauda e di poter utilizzare la grande piazza antistante il Castello. Il Duca di Chiablese Benedetto Maria Maurizio chiese allora al Comune e all'autorità religiosa la cessione dell'edificio pericolante e del relativo terreno, impegnandosi a ricostruire una nuova chiesa più spaziosa in posizione arretrata per poter realizzare la nuova piazza davanti Castello. La parrocchia della Madonna della Neve ospita, in concomitanza con l'ostensione della Santa Sindone, la copia della stessa, realizzata a grandezza naturale, opera di un certo Fantinus e datata 1708, solitamente conservata presso la Confraternita di Santa Marta.
