The main road through the historic and protected village of Corfe Castle (the Castle is behind me) had this odd but rather beautiful mist, with the sun blazing above - at midday!

With so many thatched (straw) roofs, I was worried that the smoke was a serious house fire but it turned out that someone was burning garden waste behind one of the cottages.

The road is always very busy - even in November - and so I only managed three shots and was not able to cross the road even, but the smoke soon lifted.

It is not a perfect image and some would want to crop some of it. I did clone out one parked car but otherwise left it mostly as it was. Thousands of visitors take this view every year but I doubt if their photos will be quite as atmospheric - at least at lunchtime!

If you didn't know the situation the smoke with just be some atmospheric light mist/fog. Knowing the situation I can almost feel the choking sensation of burning garden waste. It's illegal here in the burbs but from time to time there will be some idiot burning off without a care for the neighbors.
