Non lontano da Torino, a poco più di 30 chilometri, si trova il Castello Ducale di Aglié. Il castello, situato nell'omonimo comune, fa parte delle Residenze Sabaude del Piemonte. Si tratta di un edificio dallo stile architettonico abbastanza particolare in quanto somma di diversi stili che si sono succeduti nel corso dei secoli. La storia del Castello di Aglié ha inizio nel medioevo, a cui risale il primo nucleo della costruzione. Nel corso del '600 il Castello fu di proprietà di Filippo San Martino, consigliere di Cristina di Francia, il quale commissionò all'architetto Amedeo di Castellamonte diverse modifiche e aggiunte nella tenuta. Tra queste sue sono il rifacimento della facciata sul giardino, la costruzione di due gallerie ed il cortile del palazzo. I Savoia acquistarono il castello nella seconda metà del '700facendolo diventare tenuta reale. Commissionarono altre aggiunte e modifiche al castello, che vide in questi anni la costruzione degli appartamenti e della chiesa, collegata al palazzo attraverso una galleria a due piani. Nel corso dell'800, dopo gli anni della dominazione napoleonica in cui il castello divenne un ricovero, la tenuta tornò nelle mani dei Savoia. Sotto il regno di Carlo Felice, il Castello di Aglié, subì una ristrutturazione importante degli arredi interni. Sempre nell'800 vennero poi costruiti il laghetto, il grande lago e le isole che cambiarono notevolmente l'aspetto esterno del palazzo. Il Castello di Aglié, venne venduto allo Stato Italiano nel 1939 dal Duca Tommaso di Savoia-Genova. Il Castello Ducale di Aglié, con le sue bellezze architettoniche, gli arredamenti originali, i numerosi quadri, gli affreschi, i reperti archeologici e con gli splendidi giardini pieni di alberi secolari e serre, testimonia oltre 7 secoli di storia d'Italia e d'Europa. Una piccola curiosità: il castello di Aglié, per il suo fascino romantico e la sua bellezza d'altri tempi, è stato scelto come set di alcune serie televisive come Elisa di Rivombrosa, La Bella e la Bestia e Maria José.
