Coal Miner's Houses, South Wales sent on February 04, 2017 (13:58) by Timk2. 29 comments, 1597 views. [retina]

at 400mm, 1/1600 f/8.0, ISO 320, hand held.

Taken from the top of that 505m very high hill, these terraces of coalminer's houses were glinting in the hazy sun. Using 400mm on DX + the D7100's 1.3x crop, this equates to 800mm. #BlackAndWhite

This looks great, Tim! I love the way the light is glinting off the roofs and the cars, all arranged very neatly in rows! Very attractive b & w conversion!

Thank you Ann. I had hoped that you got to see this one, I've been wanting and waiting for a shot like this for years and only a very long lens and a trip to the Valleys could provide me with one. It was edited a while ago though, waiting for a suitable time to post.

Yes, it's a great view and your processing has enabled us to see lots of detail! Worth going after!

It's good to have images 'waiting in the wings'. It's my trips to London that seem to provide me with endless material.
