Of the many black and white images I have posted here on Juza, I believe I have only used a frame on two occasions (one very recently and the other back in April) and I still consider both of those images to be better for them but, of course, it is a matter of personal taste.

That might be the case but perhaps one didn't really like the image in any case and even a frame wasn't going to help with that. With the most recent I felt that the weather conditions ensured the blown out sky (high-key as you called it) and the frame was an attempt to rescue it. So, yes, the frame helped but not enough to save a doomed scenario and image (in my opinion).

I did not see it posted anywhere else and one has to go 'as presented, as seen' - Juza does push the contrast and sharpness levels to often image breaking levels - (I think I saw a very overcast colour original but obviously the mono version was much brighter and contrastier - and as ever, as with both of us and indeed, anybody, as we all know, tough if you don't like someone not liking something - there is always much TO like and doing so doesn't show much initiative etc.
Pretty grey here!
