The Sun Finally Breaks Through... sent on September 13, 2016 (0:02) by Timk2. 40 comments, 2111 views. [retina]

at 10mm, 1/80 f/6.3, ISO 200, hand held. New Forest National Park, United Kingdom.

I visited my father's grave this afternoon and it was very dull, all day. As I wandered about where the primary school I attended is and the places where we used to play at lunchtime - It is situated right on the open New Forest - and just as daylight ended, the sun broke through the clouds and lit up the sky. I then had to run around looking for a foreground for it all. My father would not have been impressed, but it was indeed a fitting end! #Sunset

Beautiful light - you captured it well! The same happened here but oh, so briefly (and I was just on my way to camera club!)

Ann - trees are either too small (bushes) or too large (obscure the view) and so much ground coverage that it's really difficult to find the best place to shoot from.

This was using a soft grad (rather than hard grad) 3 stop graduated grey Kood filter, for your information - but still lots of selective editing in both sky and foreground.

Was tonight the first club evening of the season?

Thanks for the info, Tim!

Last week was the first week but totally informal. This was the first proper club night with a visiting speaker - all about Africa an its wildlife. Next week is the first (print) competition night but I have yet to select images - I imagine I probably will enter the permitted two though.

You'll certainly have no shortages of good images after the summer you've had!

Hello Sunshine! Beautiful colours, Tim. I love the little mushroom tree you found, and as always, I love your dancing clouds.

Thank you Lori - I thought the tree was shaped like a parasol!

Since I just noticed I'm two years older than you, and therefore wiser, we'll have to agree it looks like a mushroom :-)

Now that's a lovely imagining of the events, Micio! I thank you so much and I am glad to have got a good reminder of that very brief sunset (two minutes it lasted).
