Forte Giaura si trova a 2.253 m s.l.m. nel comune di Tende (Francia) sulle Alpi Marittime e fa parte di un massiccio sbarramento fortificato costituito da sei forti e relative infrastrutture sotterrane costruite, tra il 1881 e il 1895 sul Colle di Tenda e nell'alta valle del Roja, nell'ambito di un sistema di difesa il cui intento era proteggere il Piemonte da eventuali assalti nemici. Non ha mai avuto, come del resto tutte le altre fortificazioni della zona, il battesimo del fuoco. Visto dall'alto della Rocca dell'Abisso 2.755 m s.l.m..
