I love this, Tim! Really gorgeous textures in the sky, the glimpse of Old Harry, the patchwork of fields on the cliff tops and great tracks in the sand - lovely!

This was much later in the day, yesterday, Ann. It had been cold and miserable, hence few people walking along, here the cloud is breaking but was still quite hazy sun, so I had to whack in loads of selective contrast. For reasons that you would probably know, one wouldn't have taken this view and angle if it had been busy... It was about 6.00pm, so those that had been there had gone home and shortly a few were walking in from the ferry, making the most in the sunnier weather and for an evening's stroll.

Oh, I can understand why you wouldn't have taken it , had it been busy! I also understand now why your day out was so long - that's quite a jaunt for you! Not the most hospitable place, if it is cold and miserable - there are not a lot of options for a warming cup of tea!

It wasn't cold, just not hot enough to feel like summer and whilst in other seasons that would feel normal, it felt strangely empty - I was almost yearning for people and families - not to photograph, it's just nice to see folk enjoying life and the places that you do too. It was busier down by the visitor's centre, where the dog walker pic was much earlier taken, but that's where the car-park is! And it's not a long jaunt - one day, I can't exactly remember when, I walked from Swanage, had missed the last Purbeck Breezer bus, got the ferry (it's free to return as a foot passenger) and walked to Westbourne, as that was where the nearest point a bus went in to Bournemouth! And the first few miles were very steep indeed (but immense views looking back over Swanage from the top of Ballard Down (I think it's called). Have you walked that walk? It's a good one to do (only to the ferry, I mean!)

Now that really is a long way to walk! By 'long jaunt' I actually meant from home and back but I guess you're used to incorporating more travel time into your day than I am. I usually drive up to an hour each way for a day out with my camera.

I don't think I've walked it in one hit. I've been from the ferry to Studland and from Studland to Swanage but I'm pretty sure it was on two separate occasions. I do love walking the coastal path but in smaller bites than you!

Tim Great shot!
Hi Giorgio

Yes, bus wise it is a long jaunt. I left Studland at 6.45pm, not getting home til 9.45, almost the same time getting there. In two bites, yes, that sounds more sensible, but as long as you've done it! As you know, I've also done Corfe to Wareham and Studland village (or a bit past it, on bus route) to Corfe. I should do more but it can be a pain, not to do often and in summer when the Purbeck busses are full and you have to stand, or are too busy even to pick you up, then...

I've also done Swanage to Durlson Head and Durlston Head to Worth Matravers and Worth Matravers to Kimmeridge. All great walks but not toooo far!

The transport offer to Durdle Door or some other part of the Purbecks you can't get to still stands for sometime this summer, if you can get yourself somewhere in this direction.....

The sand like the sky, good BW!
Hello Tim! Sergio ;-) :-P

She says, as she swans off to Spain for another month!!

Oh yes, I've done the coastal walk to beyond Durlston Head, I've been beyond the lighthouse www.juzaphoto.com/me.php?pg=142875&l=en#fot1015358 further ahead, but of course, I always have to get back to Swanage, though I am getting more canny about the busses and so hope to get further this summer.

Of course, when I finally do get some more cash, I'd be very happy to stay a few days in so many locations I cannot tell you, especially revisiting places I used to know in Wales.

The sand IS like the sky, Sergio - that is what I liked about it too!

I'll be back after a couple of weeks with no other travel plans until next February. Although, of course, other plans will inevitably be made!
