at 85mm, 1/640 f/9.0, ISO 250, hand held. Old Harry Rocks, United Kingdom.

I don't just do very high contrast black and whites, though, I do find that subtle high key and misty landscapes can be more difficult to get right - a foreground that is interesting but yet does not overwhelm and subtle and high key enough to seem ethereal but not so much to look just washed out. I decided to keep this in colour, as it is minimal and features a small area of the overall image.

I wasn't sure about this when I first saw it, Tim. I like the balance of the composition and the hint of Old Harry in the distance with the yacht neatly placed in front. I'm not so sure about the flag but the man and his dog are great, so overall, a 'like'!

Google Translate has done something weird to Andrea's comment......

Ann, I realise that the flag isn't the prettiest of objects, but the composition needs it, so it remains! I was holding off posting up yet another high contrast black and white, so persisted with this opposite but as I said, Old Harry just looks naff in the misty distance without a foreground and ones with just a few boats looked a bit dull and dead.

TimK I really like this shot. watching
you feel that you are in a time of day when
there is a lot of quiet and you have the feeling of being present.
