On the way to Cowes, were you?? I've done similar but with other main subjects and it can be really effective if done well. Focussing often has to be done manually, in case it wants to latch onto the wrong part.

I admit the focusing was tricky, not least because I was very constrained in my viewpoint being inside a milking shed in a narrow walkway with several people in front of me, also wanting to have a good look!
That must be quite a wrench! Are you replacing it with something similar/better? |

Sounds like a tricky situation.
There is none better for a Nikon with that specification (it's better all round than Nikon's own VR, that costs more and is less well built), but in essence, I have used my over 5 year old Tamron SO much that the VC vibration control has become unreliable, essential for my early/late starts and long landscape shots, so it has to go but can only be sold as 'repair or spares', so it will not get very much. How much I finally get (minus fees) will control how soon I can get a replacement (exact same new model). That 17-70mm Sigma that I waited 3 months for never did get delivered so I was forced to cancel the order and so am expecting the refund to assist with this. I can live without the 17-70mm but not without a quality functional 70-300mm. Like the D7000 replaced recently, I could not have asked more from the Tamron - my most liked (340 likes and 12000 views) on Juza was taken with it! |
