Angera. Sabato 6 giugno 2015, 17:41. Equipaggiata con un V8 di 2.6 litri di cilindrata e 200 cavalli. La carrozzeria venne disegnata da Marcello Gandini che allora lavorava per Bertone. Ebbe una gestazione tormentata: il prototipo venne presentato all'Expo di Monteral del 1967 equipaggiato di un 1600 bialbero; ma il lancio sul mercato ci fu solo nel 1972. La dirigenza dell'Alfa Romeo la supportò in misura inadeguata: si dava la priorità all'allargamento in basso della gamma con l'Alfasud piuttosto che puntare sui modelli di prestigio (l'esatto contrario della strategia della BMW), quindi il grosso degli investimenti era destinato agli impianti di Pomigliano d'Arco (e qui c'entrava anche la gestione clientelare dell'Alfa Romeo da parte dell'IRI). La sopravvenuta crisi energetica fece il resto.
