Sulla via del ritorno da un trekking alla Laguna Esmeralda (Ushuaia) le nubi si sono aperte un attimo facendo comparire un pò di luce, col sole tramontato da tempo. Il piccolo lago in cui si riflettono i monti è originato da una diga costruita da castori. Un allevatore ne portò qui dal Canada una trentina negli anni 50 ma in un clima meno freddo il pelo rimaneva corto. L'idea fu abbandonata e quei pochi castori liberati all'epoca oggi sono diventati 250.000, rappresentando un grosso problema in un ambiente nel quale non hanno antagonisti e dove i pochi alberi crescono solo di alcuni millimetri all'anno
