Non avrei mai pensato di vedere davvero le tartarughe a Lampedusa. E' stato un incontro bellissimo. Purtroppo mi è capitato anche di vederne una in mare, morta, probabilmente travolta da un'imbarcazione. Decine e decine di tartarughe vengono soccorse dal centro WWF di Lampedusa e di Linosa. Generalmente sono vittime dell'incuria della gente, soprattutto dei pescatori che non esitano ad utilizzare mezzi ortodossi, per pescare, che procurano grossi disastri. Spesso anche sacchetti di plastica o fili di varia natura, gettati in mare, causano serissimi problemi a questi splendidi animali.
