Nei pressi del meraviglioso Lago Inle sorgono le Pagode di Kakku. La regione è abitata dalla minoranza etnica Pah-o, il secondo gruppo piu' numeroso dello stato Shan, ed e' stata aperta ai visitatori solo recentemente. Per arrivare a Kakku la strada è costellata da piccoli villaggi che sono una ricchezza per chi come me ama più le aree rurali. La ragazza ritratta è stata la guida che mi ha mostrato le meraviglie di questo sito di devozione. (Durante il regno del grande sovrano Alaungsithu, nel XVI secolo, attorno al tempio centrale di Kakku, in segno di devozione e per l'acquisizione di meriti, i fedeli buddisti fecero erigere circa 2.500 piccole pagode, in gran parte di stile Shan, finemente decorate con stucchi che formano preziosi ricami.)
