Varese - Sanctuary of Schirannetta. sent on January 31, 2016 (15:01) by Massimo Schiavi. 41 comments, 1586 views. [retina]

#Chiese

Beautiful photo Massimo, and the excellent background: a bit 'of "culture" helps to remember where we came from, since often you pass in front of the works of a few hundred years ago without knowing anything. Thank you!

Thank you Peter for the comment that makes me a great pleasure!
Unfortunately pass before this ancient church is very difficult because, practically in the open country until the '50s, is now surrounded by apartment buildings and houses that are just meters away. Horrible witness wild urbanization of the 60s onwards.
Hello and good week!

Thanks Steve, I'm glad you enjoyed the shots.
Unfortunately, not only the church was closed, but it was also closed the gate that gives access to the grassy churchyard so I could take a picture of the little church just across the fence which, thank goodness, is not high and can also get on a wall and stand up for the couple of feet that help a lot.
Next Sunday, February 7 is the festival with banquets and entertainment, and maybe, if you have time and desire and the weather permits, we can go for a ride.

Rob, thanks for the comment! The fact that the shot and the caption you enjoyed me great pleasure. When Silvio (zinc) will organize a meeting of Juzzini of Varese and around us know in person and I will show the church of the Rasa to photograph. I know a church in Rasa, in the center, but I do not know if that is what you mean, and, but from memory, I think is dedicated to San Gottardo, but I may be wrong.

Thanks Micio for comment that made me very happy.
The church of Schirannetta is an example of rural church, very simple in structure and adorned certainly painters "amateur", but of great good will. The frescoes were then the purpose, as well as to adorn, to act as "Bible designed" because some episodes were understandable even to the illiterate who, in the civilization of that time, were the overwhelming majority.
Best wishes and a good day!

Thanks Jordan for the welcome comments!
You're right, it is a little treasure and it was, at least in the 60s / 70s, treated pretty bad because, even if they have started to restore it, at that time they literally surrounded by condominiums, villas and cottages!
Hello !
