I like this a lot, Tim - especially those grasses in the foreground, for some reason!

Ann - I almost prefer glimpses of churches in the landscape more than the buildings themselves, how they fit in, nestling, it's so reassuring, so English. I'm on an ancient footpath and in centuries past, one can imagine this to be not much different. This was on my walk to Manton, from Marlborough.

I agree - 'reassuring' sounds about right! Anchor points dotted around the countryside in the midst of a changing world that have been there for such a long time and provide a link to the past.

And for many, much more than that. They were the hub of the community too, of course, not so long ago.
