Sulla cresta di Casses Blanches, trascinato a testa bassa dalla pesta di una lepre variabile che mi ha impegnato non poco ad attraversare i canalini ghiacciati delle Fontanette, mi ritrovo improvvisamente a fare i conti con la brevità del giorno. Mi siedo disfatto su di un masso e osservo incantato le tenebre che avvolgono già il fondovalle. Tra luce e ombra emergono le geometrie che hanno domato lo sperone roccioso su cui poggia il Forte di Exilles; pare un'astronave attraccata ai margini del nulla...Mentre il forte resiste alla pressione dell'oscurità, abbandono il mio masso; con gli occhi pieni di tramonto, scivolo veloce tra le ombre sempre più lunghe. Cerco il sentiero di Stra Rusa poi devio verso Clo Valun; d'un fiato attraverso il rio Gironda e percorro il sentiero che mi conduce alle Grange Hubert. Finalmente posso posare lo zaino, staccare il binocolo dal collo e sedermi in auto...Accendo i fari e mi allontano dalla piazzola: "Non c'è neve, ma il natale arriva anche quest'anno".
