...and a little bit of yellow. An even littler depth of focus, despite f9! Summer returned today, after two days of autumnal cool and rain. No reds were increased in saturation during the taking or editing of this image.

Lovable red, nice composition.

Beautiful selective detail and wonderfully vibrant colours, Tim.
Did you go to Compton Acres? And did you see my note about David posting his 1000th image? I thought you may be interested, even though you don't visit that other site any more.

Thank you also, Ann. I did not, I need to keep a really tight budget right now and whilst the 8 quid for Compton Acres is probably good value, the walk up from Poole along Holes Bay and up into Upton Country Park was even better value, especially as I got shots (such as this and others including bee macros) in the walled gardens of Upton Park's big House, for free! It was heaving with families as the sun was quite strong and hot and they were cooling off in the fountain. I did buy some lunch there though and then returned to Poole via Hamworthy along the footpaths with nice clear and colourful views back through to Poole, with boats and birds and stuff. Once back there, the classic and dream motorbikes were parading on the Quay front - MORE free pictures, a nice surprise.

I was already aware of David's 1000th as I look in on that site so little now that I haven't turned off the notifications! I texted him on the bus home my congratulations, which I thought was nicely personal.

That was a good choice of walk and the walled gardens at Upton Country Park can be very lovely at the right time of year. I sometimes go to the park to photograph the bird life. And oh, yes - I'd forgotten about bikers' night. I think that's every Tuesday during the summer - maybe you caught the last one for the year. Did you see the Twin sails Bridge lift during your walk?

I'm sure David will have been pleased to receive your text :)

Yes, I did see the bridge lift, but was just starting on my walk and I wasn't sure how rare it was to see it open and so only got some shots from across Holes Bay with my 16-85mm. It was worth photographing but not to the extent of stopping, changing kit etc whilst getting into my stride and trying to eat a hot sausage baguette with the other hand! I got lots from the biker's night - a goldmine for photos, two up so far.

Yes, I got a reply from David.

Just finalised plans for Dorset Steam Fair - my friend Des is driving down on Saturday as previously agreed, so able to take tripod/warm clothes for evening shots also.

Day spent today tidying up father's grave, now that the funeral flowers have passed over and sorting things out with my brother. So, my mind hasn't been on Juza or photography. Thank you Ann

I think the bridge lifts pretty often - about every half hour during peak times. It alternates with the bridge at the Quay, to maintain the flow of traffic. I don't think the timings are very exact, though, and if there is nothing waiting to pass through it stays put - which can be a little frustrating if your waiting to photograph it!

Not the easiest of days for you but one that is good to have come to the end of. Some days photography just has to take a back seat.

That's good that you have the weekend at the Steam Fair with Des to look forward to.
