Good morning to all. I would like to know if and 'an owl or owl. I think you are building a nest inside a hut half-mountain (you can see it often get out of the chimney)
Thank You

Hi , it looks to me as Short-eared Owl / Asio flammeus.

I would have thought of a tawny owl. I did not notice the ear tufts on the head and eyes seem dark and yellow / orange.
thank you

Ciao Stephano, you managed to capture this owl on photo quite well! I've read all the mentions above about what species it could be, and I think that you came closest with your suggestion of a Tawny Owl (Strix aluco). This bird with its dark eyes and overall grayish colours is defenitely a species from the Strix-genus. The only other species that it resembles a bit, is Ural Owl (Strix Uralensis). However, that species doesn't occur in Italy but in Scandinavia. If you took this picture in Italy (or elsewhere in Central or Southern Europe) than it is most likely a Tawny Owl. Compliments on your pictures and good luck with your photography! Kind regards, Hans

For me I agree with those who said that this is a tawny owl, I have a couple close to home and are identical to this taken by you ...... . Very good, hello

I think it is an owl too. Excellent recovery.
Greetings

To me it looks like a Common Owl: the ear tufts are not seen in flight and has a white mask on the face that contrasts with the gray of the Tawny Owl. Even the dark spot in the middle of the upper wing looks like a common owl.
But the eyes seem dark and the tail little barred.
