at 70mm, 1/200 f/4.0, ISO 2000,

very noisy, too narrow, with the 17-70 you could expand a bit '

PP had to selectively remove noise from the background and apply some of MDC on the subject

It can be a good workout but I anticipate that the majority of forumisti is sad to see these scenes (without controversy), however the picture has to be perfect ;-).
The shot does not convince me for these reasons:
-Noisy
-Little air to the right
Dark-eye
Fingernail-cut
-Little detail, it seems a strong crop

If you miss a medium telephoto evaluates a tamron 70-300mm vc usd that definitely has a favorable price / quality ratio and gives the dust to many competitors ;-)

Always documented on the subject you're photographing, bird of prey is too generic.
Always completes the picture with the shooting data.
These provide useful information to other users allows them to enter into the spirit of better picture posted and understand your options in the stage of pre-release as well as allow us to make a more reasoned and objective comment ..

thanks passages and criticism. I fully agree with both Henry and ElleEmme, your sincerity me how to correct and improve myself though, for these photos in the gallery, I made a premise that I believe in it and that is that I, a lover of nature and animals, I " self-critical, "although I have not done anything wrong mind you, to take pictures in a zoo asking" excuse me "and envying one who set off in nature (like you) and in an exemplary manner. Besides the passion it takes the means and for the moment I have only the first but slowly we get there, thanks to people like you who "lost time" to give advice to people like me who still have much to learn. greetings and good light.

Starting from your picture I suggest this interpretation:
I applied a light contrast
removed the only noise in the background
lightened slightly with the command lights / shadows
:-)

Remember that you have a view as high-performance all-in-one, so make also perform macro photos almost since it is between the optical normal that is closest to the true 1:1 macro ratio ;-)
