Il monumento naturale Le Colonne è un'area naturale protetta della regione Sardegna istituita nel 1993. Occupa una superficie di 10,40 ha nella provincia di Carbonia-Iglesias. Purtroppo il 18 novembre 2013 una di queste colonne è stata spazzata per sempre dal mare in burrasca Si sollevano sul mare come pilastri naturali di pietra vulcanica nella costa meridionale dell'Isola di San Pietro, in uno scenario costituito da promontori, calette e falesie. Sulle origini delle Colonne di Carloforte alcune leggende raccontano che fossero dei marinai pietrificati per punizione, oppure di mostri che San Pietro, protettore dell'isola omonima, avrebbe trasformato in roccia per proteggere gli abitanti. Il monumento, noto perché comunemente considerato esempio di faraglione, è incluso in divrersi itinerari geologici. Nella parte occidentale dell'area si trova l'oasi LIPU per la protezione del Falco della Regina, nella parte occidentale, potrebbe essere estesa a tutta la falesia meridionale, per ampliare l'area di salvaguardia degli uccelli. Si trovano sull'isola praticamente tutti gli esemplari del Falco di Eleonora presenti in Sardegna (forse 300 coppie). Nei pressi si trovano falesie e grotte costiere. Una particolarità geomorfologica degna di nota è costituita dai residui della bocca di una sorgente tipo geyser, oggi inattiva.
