La "canna da soffio" è un arrnese fondamentale per la lavorazione del vetro. Consiste in un tubo lungo circa 140/150 cm. e di diametro variante tra 2/4 cm., forato internamente. Una estremità è leggermente conica onda agevolare la soffiatura, la parte opposta è talvolta ingrossata. La "canna" (scoperta verso il I sec. d. C. sembra in Siria), consente la soffiatura del vetro che, attinto dal crogiolo, viene "avvolto" attorno all'estremità ingrossata. La soffiatura ha luogo tutte le volte che si desidera ottenere oggetti cavi (vasi, bottiglie, ecc.).
