Nel corso di questi anni ho fatto tante fotografie a M42 ma per lo più a grande campo e mai ad una focale cosi spinta.
La grande nebulosa di Orione è un oggetto straordinariamente grande e luminoso ma a livello fotografico non è poi cosi semplice perché proprio la sua luminosità rende lo sviluppo della zona centrale, quella del trapezio, molto difficile.
Per questo ho preferito usare la tecnica dell'HDR per realizzare questa fotografia e cioè per ogni filtro (luminanza e colore) ho fatto scatti corti (5 secondi) e scatti lunghi (180 e 300 secondi) in modo da avere alla fine tutto il "range dinamico" disponibile.
Nell'inquadratura ho voluto inquadrare anche Iota Orionis, la stella più luminosa della Spada di Orione.
Alla fine ho integrato 2 ore di luminanza e poco meno di 2 ore di colore ad una focale di 1624 mm con camera monocromatica sempre dal mio balcone in provincia di Siena.

La grande differenza nelle foto passate l'ha fatta l'idrogeno che, in effetti, da dettaglio alle strutture creando contrasto ma in questa foto non c'è.
