Probabilmente il comportamento più bello, e unico, a cui ho avuto la fortuna di poter assistere nella mia vita. Una mamma con due cuccioli già grandi (2/3 anni) era intenta a mangiare una carcassa di balena, e un maschio dormiva non troppo lontano. Dopo un po', la femmina si è allontanata dalla balena e si è avvicinata al maschio, iniziando una serie di "coccole" piene di dolcezza, che il maschio ha accettato con piacere. Il maschio è stato poi avvicinato anche da uno dei cuccioli, palesemente spaventato, mentre la femmina ha continuato nei atteggiamenti dolci che spero di aver catturato in questa foto. E' raro riuscire a vedere, nello stesso fotogramma, una femmina con un suo cucciolo e un maschio, e ancora di più poter essere testimoni di un atteggiamento così particolare e pieno di dolcezza. Uno dei momenti più indimenticabili della spedizione.
