Milky Way at Death Valley NP sent on June 29, 2022 (17:21) by PaoloStivanin. 13 comments, 623 views. [retina]

at 16mm, 1/640 f/9.0, ISO 100, tripod.

I read with pleasure your review about the D7500 that I also own and with the same pleasure to yours.
The passage "I don't feel the need to switch to ML or FF" unites us although it seems to have become necessary, probably not for us.
Out of curiosity I am here and with some satisfaction I see your beautiful images published, having confirmation of how it is still able to pull out our machine.
If you want I wait for you in my portfolio for your incursion (photo portrait and cameras no more I would say).
Have a good Sunday.

Fabulous! Did you use backeting right? What are the shooting settings for the sky part?

Thank you very much!
No, I didn't use bkt. I did two exhibitions, one for the first floor and one (sum) for the Milky Way. I
say sum because I took a 20 for the sky. The data are 105s, f/4, ISO 800. I used a star tracker. I couldn't pull more with time because there was an absurd wind (and the moon was about to rise).
After doing the sum of heaven and post-processing that, I post-processed the close-up. I eventually merged both with GIMP (alternative to PS).

Thanks for the answer, very kind as always! I take this opportunity to ask you more questions :D What tracker did you use? Are there also low cost ones? Is it for the "sum" of various shots, is there a guide or a technical term on which to read up? I would like to learn it too...

I used the ioptron skyguider pro. To my knowledge there are no cheap ones :-( Nico Carver of nebulaphotos on YouTube teaches how to build a very basic star tracker, if you are familiar with these things :-D
For the summing technique, it's called stacking, it's very simple actually the process. For milky way enough a program like Sequator, I think there are several tutorials on YouTube.

The Focus Stacking technique is interesting! I didn't know her, now I'm going to try it :-D But is it the same technique that is also used to photograph the moon, that you know? I remember seeing some time ago shots of a lunar eclipse, where the author wrote "To make this shot I merged together X shots"...

I didn't use focus stacking here, but simple stacking of sky photos :)
Yes, it's the same technique you use for any astrophotography to increase the signal and decrease the noise.
