Convolvulus arvensis L. - Vilucchio comune Descrizione: Pianta perenne erbacea, dal lungo rizoma fragile e biancastro, le cui radici vivono a lungo nel suolo e possono facilmente ricostruire l'intera pianta anche da un frammento minuscolo; i fusti sottili alla base, hanno sezione esagonale, sono glabri, striati, lunghi anche oltre 1 m, striscianti e se trovano sostegno rampicanti, generalmente levogiri. Le foglie sono alterne, picciolate, hanno lamina ovata o astata, margine intero, spesso ondulato ± revoluto, apice da ottuso a subacuto, talvolta mucronato. Le superiori di dimensioni minore, sono progressivamente lanceolate. I fiori sono portati da lunghi peduncoli con 2 brattee lineari ± opposte; spesso solitari ma a volte appaiati, sbocciano all'ascella delle foglie mediane, hanno sepali oblunghi ad apice ottuso o smarginato, ± pubescenti sul dorso; corolla Ø 3 cm circa, imbutiforme, da completamente biancastra o rosacea, più frequentemente con 5 screziature longitudinali bianche alterne ad altrettante di colore rosa; sulla faccia abassiale sono presenti ulterriori 5 screziature liguliformi rossastre, verdastre alla base. 5 stami di diversa lunghezza con antere violette e sagittate; stimma diviso in 2 segmenti filiformi bianchi. I fiori, dopo la fioritura effimera, la corolla cade tutta intera; emanano un leggero profumo di vaniglia, si aprono verso mattina, per richiudersi nel pomeriggio. I frutti sono capsule globose appuntite e glabre, contengono quasi sempre 4 semi scuri. Specie che si moltiplica rapidamente per via vegetativa, con rigetti sotterranei e gemme avventizie. Antesi: Generalmente fra aprile÷ottobre, ma con condizioni climatiche favorevoli, anche durate tutto l'arco dell'anno. Distribuzione in Italia: Molto comune in tutto il territorio. Habitat: Specie commensale autoctona, vegeta nei coltivi, siepi, incolti, prati, margini di strade, orti, giardini, recinzioni, aree antropizzate, predilige terreni argillosi ricchi di sostanze azotate; 0÷1.500 m s.l.m
