M51 - first approach sent on July 30, 2021 (20:14) by Zenidem. 6 comments, 387 views. [retina]

Posa B f/4.0, ISO 3200, tripod.

Well done.
Reminds me of one of my trials from many years ago on the same subject.
Consider however that those 200mm remain 200mm, but with the same angle of view that you would have with a 400mm on the full format.
It is important to point out the fact that we are talking about a cropping factor and not a zoom, especially in astrophotography, where between a real focal length of 400mm and one of 200mm there is an abyss.

Thanks to you, absolutely Giancarlo: cropping among other things of a frame intended for 35mm therefore with an intrinsic quality not comparable to a 400mm FF, nor to dedicated star optics.
I'll do a further test with an MFT pro lens to see how far I can go with quality

However with 1h of exposure in my opinion there is another hidden signal to pull out

Yes, just yesterday I started to apply a more orderly workflow following the advice of Nico Carver (Nebula Photo) and something more I managed to pull it out containing the noise of the background.
