Fabio, 8-) at the time he was the direct competitor of vario Sonnar 28-85 Contax Zeiss ;-)

Fabio, yes. I had the torque: 28-90 f. 2.8-3.5 and the 70-210 f. 2.8-4.0. Really interesting optics, a hair below which slow counterparts Contax-Zeiss. I used them for years on the Yashica FXD Quartz before landing in Contax. I had also taken the Vivitar Series1 28-105 f. 2.8-3.8 but it was not up to the previous model while the 70-210 f. 3.5 fixed was slightly better than 2.8-4.0 at T.A.
Tho, after buying the Contax 139 Quartz, I progressively switched to Vario Sonnar 28-85 f.3.4, 80-200 f.4.0 and 35-70 f. 3.3, all extraordinary... all... extraordinary... all... extraordinary... not to mention the fixtures: Planar 50mm f. 1.4, Distagon 25mm f.2.8 and Distagon 18mm f. 4 (all Germany). The only Yashica piece I had kept in the kit was the 55mm. ML f2.8 Macro which was amazing indeed.

And Carlo thinks that the 28 70 digitally does well especially at short distances, even if the older brothers are better. Having to choose between 28 85 and 35 70 which would you recommend me? Excluding the almost untraceable 35 135 :-o
P.S. apologizes for late-summer chatter :-D

Fabio, nice talk of late summer, and not only those :-)
The 35-70 is quite light but is less extensive. The 28-85 is fantastic, but quite heavy and bulky. If you don't need a large focal trip, I would opt for the 35-70 great for ML; if you want to use them on a FF reflex then I would choose the 28-85.
The 28-70 (MM) was good between 28 and 35, then, frankly, it wasn't up to 35-70 and 28-85 on the focals over 35mm. and then it was darker than almost a diaphragm... so I sold it almost immediately with no regrets.
The mythical 35-135 was nowhere to be found (at a reasonable price) even then :-D
