Ancora nel 2010 le stime parlavano di circa 19.000 rinoceronti bianchi e 2.000 neri in Sudafrica facendone il principale paese per la conservazione di queste specie. Purtroppo il bracconaggio è sempre in aumento, e colpisce leggere sulla rivista dei parchi nazionali sudafricani che il bracconaggio di rinoceronti rispetto all'anno scorso è sceso da circa 900 a circa 800 esemplari uccisi. Una vera e propria guerra da cui perlomeno l'esemplare in foto si è salvato, facendosi a lungo apprezzare venendoci incontro in una bella mattina nel sud del Kruger.

In August of this year in South Africa I was lucky enough to photograph the Rino having the feeling that the parks we visited were quite populated, actually we were then told the guides we were quite lucky to see several.
In the private park of Hluhluwe-Imfolozi we have seen a score and one in particular, and 'came to us to not more than 10 meters away.
In the Kruger we have seen other very early in the morning ... wake up at 4.30
